Get started with Language Insight

In order to send the content you want to be translated to Language Insight via WPML, please make sure that the following plugins are installed on your website:

• WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin

• WPML Translation Management – this plugin will allow you to connect to Language Insight

• WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings

These plugins can be downloaded from your wpml.org account. You can create an account, if you haven’t already, by choosing WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency plans.

Language Insight will be visible at WPML -> Translation Management- > Translation Services tab, which is only available after registering.

Connect your website to Language Insight

When all of the required plugins have been installed and activated, then all you need to connect WPML to the translation service is your Language Insight API Token.

You then need to go to WPML->Translation Management to choose your translation method. Click the option Yes, show me the available translation services.

Scroll down through the list and activate Language Insight.

Next you need to click Yes, I have an account if you already are a client of Language Insight, or click No, I need to create an account if you haven’t used Language Insight before.

If you clicked Yes, I have an account, enter your API token on the following screen to authorise Language Insight.

If you clicked No, I don’t have an account then you can request an account, and your API Token, by visiting Language Insight’s contact page.

When you have your API Token, go to WPML->Translation Management ->Translation Services tab and enter your API Token to authenticate Language Insight.

Your WordPress account is now connected to your Language Insight account.
You are now ready to send your content for translation!

Send the content for translation

To send the pages for translation, go to the Translation Management module (WPML->Translation Management).

Choose the pages you want to translate by clicking the checkboxes in the first column, select the target languages you require and click the Add to translation basket button.

Go to the Translation Basket tab to see a list of all the pages that you have added to the basket, as well as the languages they are to be translated into.

In this section, you can verify the content you are about to send that needs translating, remove any incorrect pages, and edit the Batch name. The Batch name will be visible on the Translation Jobs tab and will help you find the projects. When you have checked through this, simply click the Send all items for translation button to send everything over to Language Insight.

You will see a confirmation message when the translation basket’s contents have been successfully sent over to Language Insight.

You can view the jobs you have sent over for translation in the Translation Jobs tab at the top of the screen.

Once your translation basket has been transmitted, Language Insight will be immediately notified and will proceed to carry out a detailed analysis and quote for the batch.

The quote will then be emailed to you, with terms and conditions of business and simple instructions on how to authorize the translation.

Receiving the completed translations

As soon as Language Insight finish a translation job, it will be ready to be delivered to your website.

Depending on your configuration, translations will be automatically delivered or manually fetched from your WordPress admin panel.

If you want to check your configuration, go to WPML -> Settings, locate the Translation Pickup mode section and verify the selected option.

The Language Insight will deliver translations automatically using the XML-RPC option implies that translations will be delivered to your website automatically as soon they are complete.

The site will fetch translations manually option implies that completed translations can be downloaded from the Translations Dashboard (WPML->Translation Management) by clicking the Check status and get translations button at the top of the page.

Cancel a translation job

If you want to cancel the translation of the pages sent from WPML to Language Insight, please consider that:

• You cannot manually delete or cancel jobs from the Translation Jobs tab on your website.

• The project can be cancelled by Language Insight only. Please contact Language Insight directly to do this.

Depending on your Translation Pickup mode configuration, the cancellation request can be sent to your website automatically through XML-RPC. Alternatively, you must click the Check status and get translations button on the Translation Dashboard tab to refresh the status and see the changes.

As a result, WPML will remove all cancelled jobs from the Translation Jobs tab.
