What does the role involve?

Language Insight is looking for enthusiastic and passionate translators native in French to join our in-house team on a full-time basis. The role is ideally based in Preston but we will also consider remote applications. However, due to the nature of the role, we are only able to take into consideration candidates who already live in the UK and have no visa requirements, or candidates who have the right to live and work in Spain.



Job Purpose:
As Junior Translator, your main role will be to support Language Insight’s Translation teams and your colleagues in your language team with translations, reviews, Quality Assurance checks and other language-related tasks, maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring deadlines are met. Language Insight’s core client base requires work in the Medical field. Training will be given and you will have the opportunity to learn from your colleagues as well as a large network of freelancers with years of experience in the field.

All candidates applying for this role must have an MA in Translation or have at least 5 years of experience working as a freelancer.

Tasks/Duties include:

  • Translations from English into your native language, with a focus on healthcare topics.
  • Running quality assurance checks on your own work and taking responsibility for the quality of your own work.
  • Incorporating feedback provided by senior colleagues or freelancers into your work.
  • Carrying out various other language-related tasks as required, with training, such as implementing edits and client feedback, understanding and carrying out overlays and link checking, running quality checks on files transcribed by freelancers, finalising transcriptions and translations in your and other languages.
  • Maintaining your own records and admin, where needed.
  • Carrying out translation and QA into English, if applicable.
  • Working towards proofreading other translator’s work and answering client queries.
